Liberty Elementary School students and teachers (in the Nyack school district) wear pajamas on Pajama Day 2012.

Students and staff at Liberty Elementary School in the Nyack school district are holding an annual pajama drive to help less fortunate children stay warm and toasty on these chilly nights.

Wednesday, Nov. 27, is Pajama Day, when kids—and staff, if they like—get to wear pajamas or bathrobes to school (but no slippers, please, for safety) to celebrate giving back to the community.

Each Liberty student and staff member is asked to donate a brand new pair of pajamas that would fit a child in their grade. New socks and underwear will also be accepted.

Items brought to school through Nov. 27 will be collected at the morning program and in the classrooms and brought to the library.  All items will be delivered to People to People on Monday, Dec. 2. Items received after Nov. 27 cannot be picked up or delivered.

Last year, the school collected and donated more than 200 pairs of new pajamas to the nonprofit People to People, based in West Nyack.

For more information, contact Library Media Specialist Nicholas Grasso at ngrasso@nyackschools.com or (845) 353-7255.
